Bernie’s Gourmet To Go is located in Oviedo. They’re known for their 13 different kinds of chicken salad. Yes, you heard us right. 13!
We visit Bernie’s when we do our monthly trip to Orlando to visit Sprouts because we don’t have one here in Brevard County. We pick up salads and sandwiches to go and eat in our car.
We visited Bernie’s recently and wanted to share our thoughts with all of you.
Sandwiches, Salads, Oh Yeah!
First up, we have a tuna wrap with lettuce and tomato. The tuna was the perfect texture and had the right amount of mayonnaise. The wrap was soft.
Next is Grandma’s chicken salad on a hoagie roll with lettuce. The amount of chicken salad they put on this sandwich is ridiculous. There’s at least a half of a pound of chicken salad on each half. It was so good. The chicken is tender and the crunch from the chopped celery paired well with the chicken.
For sides, the sandwiches come with chips but we upgrade to one of the salads because they’re so good. This is their bean salad. The dressing was refreshing and the beans had a nice texture.
This is Bernie’s potato salad. The potatoes were tender and the dressing had nice bits of hard-boiled eggs and mayonnaise. It may look like average potato salad but it’s not.
Heaven is Chocolate on Earth
When we first visited Bernie’s, one of the first things we noticed was their dark chocolate earthquake. This is what heaven looks like. If you’re a chocolate fanatic, you need to try this because it’s delicious. This is what the exterior looks like. It’s covered in large melted pieces of chocolate. The top is drizzled with melted white chocolate and topped with brownie pieces and white chocolate chips.
The interior has layers of chocolate cake, chocolate icing, and a solid fudge layer. We’re skeptical when it comes to getting chocolate cakes at restaurants because sometimes the cake is either dry or average. This is beyond average. It’s moist, fudgy, and rich.
Closing Thoughts
Bernie’s is always consistent whenever we visit. There are so many things to try. The service is always good. Big shoutout to Connor and Carol who are always so helpful and friendly.
If you live in the Oviedo area or you’re just visiting, you have to stop at Bernie’s Gourmet To Go.
